Interim Controller

A great UHY client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Interim Controller to step into a lean accounting environment and provide immediate support while the organization searches for a permanent Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, working independently, and taking ownership of day-to-day accounting operations with limited handoff.

The immediate priorities for this role include payroll, customer invoicing, accounts payable, reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and QuickBooks Desktop. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys being hands-on and can quickly assess the accounting function, identify priorities, and keep operations moving.

• Take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations in a lean environment.
• Process and oversee payroll and customer invoicing, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Perform hands-on accounts payable, account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activities.
• Utilize QuickBooks Desktop for accounting and financial transactions.
• Help stabilize the accounting function following the departure of a long-tenured finance resource.
• Identify and address accounting issues with limited direction or formal handoff.
• Support cash-to-accrual accounting and other accounting processes as needed.
• Assist with process and systems improvements as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with leadership while independently managing day-to-day accounting responsibilities.

• Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar hands-on accounting professional.
• Strong, current QuickBooks Desktop experience.
• Demonstrated experience with payroll, invoicing, AP, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
• Ability to independently step into a challenging environment and quickly take ownership of accounting responsibilities.
• Comfortable performing transactional accounting work rather than functioning solely in an oversight or advisory capacity.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with limited handoff and changing priorities.
