The Work
The Staff Attorney will play a meaningful role in representing clients in high-stakes matters in federal district court and administrative proceedings involving:
- Federal-sector EEO complaints (discrimination, retaliation, reasonable accommodation, hostile work environment, constructive discharge)
- MSPB appeals and mixed cases
- Discovery, motions practice, and evidentiary development
- Administrative hearings, arbitrations, and federal litigation support
- Client counseling and strategic case planning
This is not a document-review position. The Staff Attorney will be actively engaged in litigation strategy, legal analysis, and advocacy, often in matters that require patience, persistence, and creativity in the face of institutional resistance.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking an attorney who:
- Has excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills
- Is patient, detail-oriented, and thoughtful, particularly when working with clients experiencing stress or trauma
- Understands that meaningful advocacy often requires long-term commitment and meticulous record-building
- Is motivated by a genuine desire to advance justice, not just process cases
- Is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with firm leadership
- Can navigate administrative and judicial forums with professionalism and confidence
Prior experience in federal employment law, civil rights law, labor law, or administrative litigation is strongly preferred, but we will consider candidates with transferable litigation experience and a demonstrated commitment to this work. Candidates must be active members of the D.C. Bar.
