Accountant 1

Phoenix Metals is seeking an entry-level Accountant to support its finance team. The role assists with general accounting, reconciliations, close activities, payroll-related accounting, tax filings, and audit requests under the Accounting Manager.

• The Staff Accountant will support general accounting activities, account reconciliations, month-end close, payroll-related accounting, tax filings, and audit requests
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation
• Prepare routine journal entries and assist with maintaining accruals and other general ledger activity
• Prepare and maintain account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts
• Assist with payroll-related general ledger reconciliations and follow-up on reconciling items
• Support preparation and filing of business licenses, personal property tax returns, and related compliance items
• Provide documentation and support for internal and external audit requests
• Research and resolve basic accounting questions with guidance from the Accounting Manager or senior accounting staff
• Maintain accurate records and follow established accounting procedures and internal controls
• Provide ad hoc support to the accounting team as needed
• All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and general ledger activity
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
• Ability to manage confidential information with integrity
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Internship, coursework, or up to two years of accounting experience
